How to Unlock All Monsters

Play Adventure Classic to collect G-Force coins and open Rumors, finish each Rumor to start a research project, then fill that project with Research Points, fastest in Survival mode.

Last updated: 2026-11-07

To unlock every monster, you go through the G-Force Lab. Play Adventure Classic to collect G-Force coins and complete the objectives that open Rumors. A finished Rumor becomes a research project, and you fill that project with Research Points, which come fastest from Survival mode. You can unlock monsters in any order.

You start with Godzilla (1990), Gigan, Megalon and Anguirus. The other eight need research. If you only want to play with everyone right now, see Tournament mode at the end of this guide.

How the G-Force Lab works

The unlock system has three linked parts:

  1. Rumors are objectives. For example, the Final Boss review mentions a Rumor that asks for 12 wins with Megalon or Gigan. Finishing one Rumor can open more.
  2. Research projects appear when a Rumor is complete. Each project has a bar to fill with Research Points, and finishing it unlocks a monster, a location or gallery items.
  3. Research Points are earned at the end of every fight in every mode. They are spent automatically on your active project.

You can only have one active project at a time, and points only go to that one. If you want a specific monster, make its project the active one first.

Step by step

This route follows Kaiju Live TV, who unlocked the full roster with an early copy of the game.

  1. Optional: set the AI difficulty to Easy in the settings so fights go faster.
  2. Play Adventure Classic. During fights, throw your opponent into buildings and destroy as much of the city as you can. Blue G-Force shield coins drop from buildings, usually one to three per stage. These coins open new Rumors in the G-Force Lab.
  3. Open the G-Force Lab and pick the project you want to work on.
  4. Switch to Survival when a project only needs Research Points. Survival gives double Research Points but no monster experience.
  5. Go back to Adventure Classic when you need experience or more coins.
  6. Level all four starters to level 5. Kaiju Live TV says this is needed for Showa Mechagodzilla, the last monster on the path.
  7. Use every monster. Some fights only happen in certain cities with certain monsters, and those open their own Rumors. You cannot unlock the whole roster using only Godzilla.

Adventure Gauntlet and Adventure Challenge do not drop G-Force coins, so they are not useful for this.

How long it takes

Early unlocks come quickly while you play the first few Adventure runs. The slow ones, according to Kaiju Live TV, are Destoroyah and Showa Mechagodzilla, where some research steps need roughly 25,000 to 40,000 points. His estimate is a little under 10 hours if you focus only on unlocking.

For a sense of how few players have finished, Steam's global stats on November 7, 2026 showed 1.4% of players with the achievement for researching all 12 original monsters. A separate achievement, Lunar Research, is for spending 384,400 Research Points in total.

Fastest way to farm Research Points

A popular method comes from a Steam guide by Floatglass. The same method was later written up by Destructoid, so it is one source, not two.

  1. Unlock Kiryu first.
  2. Start Survival on Monster Island.
  3. Fire a rocket at the start so the AI blocks, then close in and grab it.
  4. Carry it to the wall behind the AI's spawn point. Behind that wall is a lava pit.
  5. Use Kiryu's fierce attack while grabbing (X on Xbox, Square on PlayStation) to launch the enemy over the wall without breaking it.
  6. The lava deals 10 damage per second, even through blocking. If the enemy tries to climb out, grab it and throw it back in. Nearby boulders help.

Do not break the wall yourself. If the AI hugs the wall it can avoid damage, so bait it into attacking the wall instead. You will also face Gigan and Megalon in this run, so keep your guard up.

Shortcut: Tournament mode

If you just want every monster for a local session with friends, two separate creators mention Tournament mode in the options. It makes everything available in Custom Battle without unlocking it. Kaiju Live TV describes it as unlocking everything for Custom Battle. Whether it also changes Adventure, your saved unlocks or achievements is to be confirmed.

Common questions

Is there a cheat code to unlock everyone? No. The 2002 cheat menu does not appear in the remaster. See cheat codes.

Which monster should I unlock first? Kiryu is a good early target if you plan to farm Survival with the lava method above.

Does the 11-04 patch matter? Yes. Atari's November 4 hotfix fixed a bug where corrupted save data could lock the whole roster. If your roster locked itself after a save problem, make sure the game is updated.
